Rice Value Chain in Northern Ghana - A Climate Story

January 08, 2026

Climate change can often feel distant or abstract, yet its effects shape daily life in very real ways. To make these connections clearer, we use storytelling to show how climate impacts unfold within local communities.

Our newest story From Farm to Fork, focuses on the rice value chain in Northern Ghana – a journey that begins in the fields and continues through harvesting, processing, transporting, and selling. Along the way, farmers and traders face rising temperatures, shifting rainfall patterns, and increasing uncertainty that affects both livelihoods and food security.

To support communities in navigating these challenges, SAFE4ALL is developing practical tools that make climate information accessible and actionable. One of these tools is the Climate Impact Atlas – a digital, user-friendly platform, developed within the SAFE4ALL consortium under the lead of the Climate Adaptation Services. It helps local practitioners, extension officers, and community leaders understand climate trends and their impacts. The Atlas also hosts climate stories like this one, bringing real-life experiences together with data and insights so users can see both the science and the human side of climate change.

Through this story, we show how climate information and SAFE4ALL tools can help communities better understand changing conditions, plan, and identify practical ways to adapt. By following rice from farm to market, the story demonstrates how climate resilience can be built step by step, decision by decision.
